Parliament adjourned till 2 pm as Opposition demands Amit Shah’s statement on protest crackdown

Both Houses of Parliament were adjourned till 2 pm after they reconvened on Monday amid a ruckus following demands by the Opposition that Union Home Minister Amit Shah be present for a discussion on the crackdown on youth protesters on July 20.
The Rajya Sabha was adjourned at 11.20 am.
The Opposition parties have been demanding that Shah make a statement in Parliament about the use of force by security personnel against student protesters in Delhi on July 20.
The agitation in Delhi began on June 6, when the Cockroach Janta Party launched a protest at Jantar Mantar.
Before the Lok Sabha was adjourned, the Union government introduced the 2026 Indian Statistical Institute Bill and the 2026 Bankers’ Books Evidence Bill.
