Meanwhile, officials in the Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC) on Friday termed the situation increasingly tense as the protestors allegedly locked the main doors of the Council office and started demanding their certificates for opening the doors. Medical Dialogues had earlier reported on the continuous dispute between homeopaths and allopathy doctors in Maharashtra over the direction issued to the Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC) to grant registration to BHMS practitioners who have done a Certificate Course in Modern Pharmacology (CCMP). As per the latest media report by the Times of India, when the homeopathic practitioners were called for a discussion on standard operating procedures at the medical council office in Chinchpokli last week, the situation turned tense. The association demanded that criminal charges be brought against homeopaths who entered the medical council office and "created an atmosphere of terror, and threatened employees." On the other hand, Dr Yogesh Bhalerao, working president of the IDF (Integrated Doctors Association) said, "The protest was purely symbolic.
