The Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) has reduced the replacement time for faulty electricity meters to just one month, as part of a broader improvement in its performance under the federal reform agenda. According to the Power Division spokesperson, GEPCO has become the second power distribution company in the country, after the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), to bring its losses down to single digits. Data released by the Power Division showed that GEPCO line losses fell from 10.43 percent to a record low of 9.80 percent during fiscal year 2025-26. To address consumer complaints more effectively, GEPCO has shortened the time required to replace faulty meters to one month, down from a considerably longer period previously. He added that the line losses and recovery performance of all discos were being reviewed regularly, with no compromise on meeting set targets or ensuring their effective implementation.
