The “by eye” bra fitting was due to be rolled out following a successful 23-store trial.
However, the ban is understood to have now been “abandoned”, the newspaper said, after staff and customers deemed the procedure “time consuming”.
A spokesperson for M&S told the newspaper that its trained bra fitting staff can “use a tape measure if they or the customer prefers this”, and that this method has been “recently communicated to staff”.
“We have an expert team of lingerie stylists who are trained bra fitters, and they can use a tape measure as part of the fitting process if they or the customer prefers this.
We have recently communicated this to our colleagues to make this clearer.”
