The share buyback programme, first announced in February, will return £200m of capital to shareholders through share buybacks in its 2026/27 financial year. The second tranche of the programme will allow shareholders to purchase ordinary shares of £0.0005 in JD Sports Fashion with an aggregate value of up to £100m – returning up to £100m to shareholders upon completion. The buyback will begin immediately today and is expected to complete by the end of the financial year on 31 January 2027. UK investment bank Peel Hunt has entered into an “irrevocable agreement” with the retailer to undertake the programme on its behalf. The purpose of the programme is to reduce the share capital of the company.”
