ISLAMABAD – Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani and former prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf held a meeting to exchange views on Pakistan’s political landscape, parliamentary matters, national issues and other areas of common interest. The two leaders underscored the importance of protecting democratic principles, strengthening parliamentary institutions and ensuring the Constitution remains supreme. The Senate chairman reiterated his intention to further enhance the Senate’s effectiveness and inclusiveness by encouraging consultation, coordination and cooperation among political parties. He maintained that stable democratic institutions were essential for Pakistan’s political and economic advancement. The former prime minister also emphasised that national interests should remain above political disagreements and differences.
