The price of petrol will come down when fuel prices are adjusted on Wednesday, but the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy said both grades of diesel will increase. The Department announced the fuel price adjustments for August on Monday. The price of petrol will decrease by 52 cents a litre, while both grades of diesel will increase by R1.23 and R1.38 respectively. The Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources said the main reasons for the fuel price adjustments are as follows:Crude oil pricesThe average Brent Crude oil price decreased from 86.53 US Dollars (USD) to 82.37 USD during the period under review. This led to higher contributions to the Basic Fuel Prices of petrol, diesel and Illuminating Paraffin by 6.37 c/l, 8.14 c/l and 7.89 c/l respectively.
