Speed camera vans will be in place on the M6, the A66 and the A689. Police reveal the location of their speed camera vans each day and place them in known speeding hotspots. A freedom of information request by the News and Star revealed the highest speeds recorded during 2025. A motorist was recorded travelling at 129mph on the M6, making it the fastest speed detected by a speed camera in the county during 2025. The 121mph incident took place in a roadworks section of the M6 and the highest speed recorded in a 30mph area—79mph—was logged elsewhere in the county.
