Confirmation from the Ministry of Justice comes after a warrant was issued to bring a Bury fraudster before Bolton Crown Court for sentencing after he failed to attend his sentencing on three separate occasions.
The issue was also brought into sharp focus in Bolton last week when murderer Ashley Crowder refused to attend his sentencing hearing at Bolton Crown Court.
"Too often cowardly criminals refuse to face justice, which is why we’ve introduced legislation so those who refuse can be forced to the dock or face extra time added to their sentence."

The sentencing hearing is set to be concluded by the Honorary Recorder of Bolton, Judge Nicholas Clarke KC, on Thursday, August 6.
