ATLANTA – Kroger has secured approval to move forward with a significant new Marketplace store in Dunwoody, Georgia, marking another important investment in its long-term growth strategy. The new Marketplace location is expected to cover approximately 166,000 square feet and will offer shoppers far more than a traditional grocery store. Marketplace stores have become an increasingly important part of Kroger’s retail strategy. Large-format Marketplace stores typically employ hundreds of workers across food preparation, customer service, pharmacy, logistics and store management. The investment also reflects Kroger’s continued confidence in physical retailing despite the rapid growth of online grocery shopping.
