In the studio, they’re about pushing the boundaries of what we might call ‘pop’; on paper, they test the meaning of ‘supergroup’. It’s a dense mix of exploratory musical backgrounds and usually sounds like it too. ‘Once Bend’ brings to mind another couple of pop experimentalists. All this messing about with country-garden sound collage sounds increasingly like ‘Revolution 9’ as it unfurls.
