Decisions affecting its newsrooms inevitably have implications for media plurality, editorial independence, newsroom diversity, and the future of public-interest journalism. SANEF remains concerned about the long-term sustainability of these publications and the security of editorial staff following the ownership changes that have taken place. We therefore urge the new owners to demonstrate a clear commitment to editorial independence, sustainable business practices, fair labour relations, and investment in quality journalism. EndsNote to Editors:The South African National Editors’ Forum (SANEF) is a non-profit organisation whose members are editors, senior journalists, and journalism trainers from all areas of South African media.
