The Inspector General of Government (IGG) has ordered the immediate interdiction of seven senior Parliament officials facing corruption-related charges before the Anti-Corruption Court. In a directive dated July 31, 2026, IGG Lady Justice Naluzze Aisha Batala instructed the Clerk to Parliament, Adolf Mwesige, to remove the officials from active duty pending the conclusion of criminal proceedings. The seven officials are currently on remand at Luzira Prison after appearing before the Anti-Corruption Court on July 1, 2026, where they were charged with offences including embezzlement, causing financial loss to government and money laundering. Justice Batala said the interdiction was necessary to protect public confidence in Parliament and safeguard the integrity of ongoing investigations. The interdiction is an administrative measure intended to temporarily remove public officers from duty while investigations and court proceedings continue, without determining their guilt or innocence.
