Improving healthcare access for autistic people: the AutismCare+ framework Digital Edition: Improving healthcare access for autistic people: the AutismCare+ framework A new framework can help nurses apply an ‘autism-specific approach’ in clinical practice.
We examine barriers to healthcare and introduce the AutismCare+ framework for nurses working across a wide range of primary and acute settings, which features questions that can be used to support decision making when an autistic child or adult is accessing the healthcare system.
The article also includes practical case studies to show how the framework can help nurses provide a personalised and more-accessible healthcare experience for autistic people.
