Edinburgh’s North Bridge fully reopened to pedestrians and traffic on Friday, 31 July, after eight years of phased and extensive restoration work.
While the road bridge is now reopened, final completion of the restoration project is expected later this year.
The work was conducted by Balfour Beatty on behalf of the City of Edinburgh Council.
3D laser scanning and drones helped us to model the bridge to support the council with planning and future maintenance on the bridge.
On the opening of the bridge, City of Edinburgh Council transport and environment convener Stephen Jenkinson said: “I’m delighted that we’ve reached this key milestone in the project.
