3 August 2026 – Rheinmetall today unveiled the GMF140, a next-generation 140-metre, 6,000+ tonne guided missile frigate designed to deliver unmatched capability across the full spectrum of modern naval warfare.
With the GMF140, Rheinmetall is targeting international markets and intends to offer it initially as part of a procurement project in North America.
Purpose-built for operations in the world’s most demanding threat environments, the GMF140 combines advanced air and ballistic missile defence, anti-submarine warfare and long-range strike capabilities within a highly survivable, digitally integrated and minimum manned platform.
The GMF140 can also be offered with other combat management systems such as the Lockheed Martin CMS330 Combat Management System which provides decisive and proven operational performance through an open, inter-operable and highly scale-able fleet wide combat management ecosystem that can support the integration of European sensor and weapon systems.
Its combination of integrated air and missile defence, ballistic missile defence, anti-submarine warfare and long-range strike capability positions it as one of the most advanced and capable frigates available in its class.
