After flooding rainfall impacted the morning commute Monday, pockets of heavy downpours will continue to impact parts of the tri-state area into early afternoon. The threat zone is narrowing to Monmouth and Ocean counties in New Jersey and Long Island in New York. As of 12:30 p.m., a flash flood warning was in effect for Bergen, southeast Passaic, and northern Essex counties in New Jersey as well as New York's Rockland County until 2:30 p.m. East Somerset, Middlesex, and Monmouth counties are also seeing a flash flood warning until 2:45 p.m.Watch NBC 4 free wherever you are WATCH HERE WATCH HEREEarlier, as morning storms powered through, the entire NYC metro area was under a flash flood warning. This fresh air will stay in place through Tuesday, making Tuesday the crown jewel of this week in terms of local weather. Humidity and the chance for showers and storms return as early as Wednesday afternoon and continue through the weekend.
