Bandits Kill 12, Abduct Women and Children in Overnight Sokoto Village AttackAt least 12 people have been killed and an unspecified number of women and children abducted following a deadly overnight attack by suspected bandits on Lajinge village in Sokoto State. Among those killed were six members of the same family who reportedly died after their home was set ablaze. Four other residents sustained serious injuries during the attack, while the assailants also rustled livestock before fleeing with the abducted victims. A resident, Auwal Hassan, said the gunmen killed at least 12 people, injured four others, abducted several women and children, and made away with many livestock. The spokesperson for the Sokoto State Police Command, Ahmed Rufai, confirmed the incident and said an investigation is ongoing.
