Hawthorn have signed Sam Mitchell to a three-year extension, locking him in at Dingley until the end of 2030. It’s understood the playing group was told of Mitchell’s fresh deal on Monday by CEO Ashley Klein, who did the bulk of the negotiations. Already contracted until the end of 2027, Mitchell now boasts the longest deal of all 18 coaches, though Ken Hinkley’s arrangement at the Devils lasts until 2031. The 43-year-old has led the Hawks to 58 wins from 111 games, including finals campaigns in each of the last two seasons. The club is expected to announce Mitchell’s contract extension as early as this week.
