Copper Basin Fire & Rescue Thanks First Responders, Community After Flooding ResponseCOPPERHILL, Tenn. (WDEF) – Copper Basin Fire & Rescue is thanking the many agencies, businesses and volunteers who came together to respond to severe flooding that impacted the Copper Basin area. The visitors were safely evacuated to the Copper Basin Fire & Rescue shelter. The department recognized several agencies for assisting with water rescues on the Ocoee River and cleanup efforts, including Wolf Creek Fire & Rescue Department, Hiwassee Dam Fire Department, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Fannin County Fire Rescue and the McCaysville Police Department. Copper Basin Fire & Rescue also thanked Myrtle’s Cafe for donating meals for evacuees and first responders, Copperhill Brewery for coordinating food delivery and the American Red Cross Tennessee Region for providing care and support at the shelter. Recovery efforts are expected to continue over the coming days as crews work to repair roads and clean up flood damage.
