At least 60,000 people have been forced to evacuate eastern Washington as fast-moving wildfires continue to rage around Spokane, destroying hundreds of homes and prompting Governor Bob Ferguson to declare a state of emergency. Smoke from the fires has prompted the National Weather Service to issue severe air quality alerts for eastern Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana.
