Milly’s comments follow GoCardless research that found younger Australians were disproportionately feeling the cost-of-living pressures.
GoCardless chief revenue officer Pat Phelan said Gen Z were building financial lives with far less margin than previous generations.
Milly said younger Australians couldn’t just be better at budgeting or cut back on discretionary spending in order to afford modern-day living.
Despite the overall gloomy outlook, Milly said younger Australians were resourceful and becoming good savers as a way to deal with rising costs.
