The proposals, which would redevelop a former National Grid site, are for two brick-clad buildings arranged around new public realm and landscaped spaces. The taller building would be finished in red brick, while the co-living building would use a darker brick palette. The site lies within the setting of the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site and several conservation areas, listed buildings and a scheduled monument. The scheme forms part of the continuing intensification of development around the Greenwich Peninsula following the opening of the controversial 1.4km Silvertown Tunnel last year. Last autumn, HTA Design unveiled plans for over 800 student rooms in buildings of 17, 24, and 29 storeys on the neighbouring former gas holder site for developer Scape.
