The inaugural shortlist includes Donald Insall Associates’ restoration and refurbishment of Rochdale Town Hall, considered one of Britain’s finest 19th-century civic buildings, following an extensive conservation programme. The shortlist is completed by Haworth Tompkins’ major expansion of Pembroke College in Cambridge – the only Stirling Prize shortlisted contender also in contention for the Conservation Award.
