Following an intensive night of firefighting operations, ground crews have remained vigilant, actively monitoring and suppressing isolated hotspots that could reignite as the day progresses.
To bolster their efforts, SANParks has enlisted the support of Kishugu Aviation and AG Sprayers, who have dispatched two Single Engine Air Tanker (SEAT) aircraft to assist in the firefighting efforts starting from 8am.
These aerial operations will focus on cooling hotspots identified through advanced thermal imaging techniques, effectively reducing the potential for re-ignition.
Approximately 43 ground personnel, equipped with three water tankers, have been deployed to the frontline to take over from overnight teams, ensuring that the firefighting efforts remain robust and effective.
SANParks has issued a reminder to the public about the ongoing aerial operations and has urged visitors to avoid the affected area.
