From August 3rd to 9th, police across much of Germany are carrying out a week-long speed enforcement campaign. That’s because the country is participating in a Europe-wide traffic safety campaign known in German as a Blitzermarathon (speed camera marathon). The aim is to improve road safety and reduce serious accidents by encouraging drivers to obey speed limits. Saxony is reportedly planning its own road safety enforcement campaign from August 17th to September 4th. The operation forms part of a Europe-wide road safety initiative coordinated by Roadpol, the network of European traffic police forces.
