Fire Prevention Week is from October 5-11th, and this year’s theme is “Charge into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home.” The Washington Fire Department will be visiting the elementary schools to help spread awareness and educate youth on fire safety. Washington fire fighter Andy Miller shared what the week will have in store, “So we have the smoke trailer; we do stop, drop, and roll. We work with the school system to do bus evacuations, and then we talk about fire trucks. Miller stated that there have been ion battery related fires in Washington in the past. One way to keep yourself and your family safe with these batteries is to charge devices safely.
