Empty A40 Oxfordshire park and ride site racks up £300k bill since completion

The Eynsham 850-space facility on the A40 was completed in January 2024 but has remained closed because of no road access.
The park and ride, along with the wider A40 improvements, were originally intended to be delivered together with funding from separate central Government funding pots.
OCC argue that proceeding with completing the park and ride without the necessary road access “saved taxpayers millions of pounds in additional inflationary and construction costs”.
It said: “The council therefore proceeded with the park and ride because it was fully funded, had all necessary approvals and was ready for construction.
