Leys Pools & Leisure Centre in Oxford has been shortlisted in the Transformational Innovation category at the 2026 ukactive Awards.
The nomination highlights the centre’s transformation into an Active Wellbeing Hub and its efforts to tackle health inequalities, boost community participation, and create new opportunities for residents through a place-based model.
"This recognition reflects the positive difference the centre is making to health, wellbeing and community connection across Blackbird Leys."
Since April 2024, the centre has operated as an integrated wellbeing destination, tailored to meet the needs of the Blackbird Leys community - one of the most disadvantaged areas in Oxford.
Councillor Mark Lygo, cabinet member for a healthy, fairer Oxford at Oxford City Council, said: "It is great news that Leys Pool & Leisure Centre is a finalist in the ukactive Awards.
