South Oxfordshire District Council has been awarded £1,072,805 from Homes England’s Social and Affordable Homes Programme for its Didcot Broadway redevelopment project.
The funding will help deliver a new council housing scheme at the site between 116 and 120 Broadway - which is not far from shops including the Orchard Centre.
The new homes will replace derelict shops.
Didcot West county councillor Ian Snowdon (Image: Oxford Mail)Ian Snowdon, Didcot West county councillor, said: "Additional external funding for Didcot is welcome, particularly where it helps deliver much-needed social housing and reduces the burden on local taxpayers."
He added: "The new homes will replace derelict shops and there will be community facilities on the site for young people too which is very welcome.
