On July 24, the University of Minnesota announced the closure of Bailey Hall and its dining hall for the 2026-2027 academic year. During his year in Bailey Hall, LaBella estimated that the amenities were closed 80% of the year, as flooding often halted the building’s basement amenities. McKinney said Bailey Hall being connected to the St. Paul Student Center and having its own dining hall were some of the top benefits of living there. “I was kind of shocked, but then I thought about what they’re doing to the St. Paul campus,” LaBella said. They’re turning that into a student center [St. Paul Campus Center].”
