Wildfire smoke is forecast to drift back over southern Vancouver Island Monday, with hazy skies possible in Greater Victoria, according to Environment Canada’s FireWork smoke forecast. The forecast, displayed on FireRadar.ca, shows a layer of smoke moving over the region beginning around 11 a.m. Monday and lingering into the early hours of Tuesday. The FireWork forecast is a predictive model and does not represent real-time air quality readings. The BC Wildfire Service said there are 129 active wildfires burning across the province, including 35 new fires that started in the past 24 hours. The BC Wildfire Service is also asking anyone who spots a wildfire to report it by calling 1-800-663-5555, dialing *5555 from a cellphone, or through the BC Wildfire Service mobile app.
