Image: NHVRAustralia’s heavy vehicle industry has begun operating under the amended Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL), with the reforms taking effect on Saturday, August 1. The changes represent the most significant overhaul of heavy vehicle regulation since the HVNL was introduced in 2012. National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) CEO Nicole Rosie said the commencement followed years of planning, collaboration and preparation. NHVR director of strategic policy Paul Daly said preparing for the amended law had involved one of the largest implementation programs in the regulator’s history. Some heavy vehicle combinations will be allowed to be up to 20 metres long.”
