AdvertisementNBC seems to think they are in their piece “Scuba, skydiving and golf: Black adults embrace sports that defy stereotypes and bring joy.” Why then even bring up the “once inaccessible” pre-civil rights era unless it’s just to cast a long victim/oppressor shadow? It was also, by her own admission, a free choice thing: Ms. Parker had not played golf all her life because she chose not to. What on earth does Ms. Parker thinking golf mundane have to do with the pre-civil rights era? So, once again, this a life choices thing, a class thing, not a race thing.
