CBS 58MILWAUKEE, (CBS 58) -- More than 1,000 people came together Sunday morning to raise money to fight cancer.
The event brings cancer survivors, caretakers, and community members together to raise funds for cancer research at the Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center.
Mary Horowitz, the Deputy Cancer Center Director with the Medical College of Wisconsin, says the funds raised through this event are critical for new ideas to be developed into therapies that can cure cancer.
"When I was 49, I had breast cancer and when I was 64, I had a throat cancer.
Last year the event raised more than $1 million, and this year their goal is for the event to double that amount.
