A second five-day training course, “Integrated Capacity Development in Crop Improvement and Seed System Development,” equipped 31 researchers and seed specialists with practical knowledge in crop improvement, breeding methodologies, seed science, variety maintenance, seed health, quality assurance and national seed system development. Participants visit ICARDA's research station during a field day held as part of the Integrated Capacity Development in Crop Improvement and Seed System Development training in Aleppo. Participants receive certificates during the closing ceremony of the Integrated Capacity Development in Crop Improvement and Seed System Development training in Aleppo. Women represented half of the participants in the second training program, reflecting growing engagement by young female scientists in crop breeding and seed system development.
