Medafrica Times
The Sudanese Journalists Syndicate has called for the immediate release of three women journalists detained by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Nyala, South Darfur, amid concerns over their deteriorating health and detention conditions.
The journalists and activists were arrested by RSF forces on February 28, 2026, after attending a women’s rights workshop organized by local feminist groups in Nyala.
The syndicate urged the RSF to release all detained journalists and activists unconditionally, provide urgent medical assistance and allow access to their families and legal representatives.
It also accused the targeting of female journalists of being part of broader efforts to restrict media freedom and limit the flow of information from conflict-affected areas.
The Syndicate called on international human rights and press freedom organizations to intervene, holding the RSF responsible for the safety and wellbeing of the detainees.
