The Caldwell County Tiger football team had made a lot of progress over the previous three weeks. Perennial Class 2A power Mayfield put the clamps on a Caldwell offense that had been averaging almost 40 points a game, and dealt the Tigers a 52-0 setback in 1st District action at Tiger Stadium. The Tigers (5-2, 2-1) had just 20 total yards in the first half, including minus-four on the ground on 16 carries. Malik Kirby hit Ashton Flint with a 38-yard scoring toss in the fourth quarter as Mayfield beat Caldwell for the 13th straight time. Mayfield is also off next Friday before traveling to Trigg County for a district date on Friday, Oct. 17.
