Rabat – The Yemeni Embassy in Morocco announced Saturday it is closely following reports of Yemeni citizens who died or went missing while attempting to cross the sea from the northern city of Fnideq toward the Spanish‑administered enclave of Ceuta.
In a statement, the embassy said it is in continuous contact with Moroccan authorities to verify details of the incident and ensure all legal and administrative procedures are completed.
The embassy stressed its commitment to supporting Yemeni nationals and their families in coordination with Moroccan authorities, pledging to release updates through official channels as soon as new information becomes available.
On Friday, Yemeni students residing in Morocco reported the recovery of the body of Abdullah al‑Reimi off the coast of Fnideq after he went missing while attempting to swim to Ceuta.
Meanwhile, media outlets reported that Spanish authorities retrieved dozens of bodies and continue searching for others, amid accounts of fatalities caused by a stampede near the border zone.
