Marib – Internally displaced persons (IDP) camps in Marib governorate have witnessed 102 fire incidents since the beginning of 2026, according to local humanitarian reports.
The fires, which have struck shelters across multiple camps, have caused significant material losses and left dozens of families without homes or basic belongings.
While casualty figures were not immediately available, aid workers warn that the repeated outbreaks highlight the vulnerability of displaced communities living in overcrowded, flammable structures.
Humanitarian organizations attribute the majority of the fires to unsafe electrical connections, the use of tents as kitchens, and soaring summer temperatures that accelerate the spread of flames.
The rising number of incidents underscores the mounting humanitarian challenges in Marib, which hosts Yemen’s largest concentration of displaced families.
