There is no doubt the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks changed the course of the United States forever. Veteran Tony Banchs is a member of both the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the American Legion. “So, we’re going to obviously remember the day, but we would like to also honor those who are our deceased. Banchs says the idea for a local remembrance event stems from the alternating yearly military dinner hosted by the VFW and American Legion. After realizing many members are too young to remember that day, and that the 25th anniversary of 9/11 was approaching, Banchs pitched the idea of a remembrance event in September.
