Panelists will outline how young people can work toward positive changeDickinson will host a panel discussion with young experts on gun violence prevention, grassroots activism and advocacy. The event, Organizing Against Gun Violence: Gen Z in Action, will take place Thursday, Sept. 18, at 7 p.m. in the Anita Tuvin Schlechter Auditorium, 360 W. Louther St. Wells later initiated a chapter at the University of Pittsburgh, which continues to support and safeguard the larger Pittsburgh community. During this event, they'll share how they became involved in the fight against gun violence, the leading cause of death for children and teens in the United States. They’ll then explore what it takes to sustain a successful movement—from creating cross-generational coalitions to fighting pushback and emotional fatigue—and will outline their own day-to-day strategies.
