Athletes competing in the Ironman Triathlon in Ottawa could be in for a wet race day after Environment Canada issued yellow-level rainfall warnings across eastern Ontario and western Quebec on Sunday morning.
The weather agency wrote that between 50 and 100 millimetres of rain could fall on Sunday, with the heaviest rain expected in the evening.
Advertisement AdvertisementAdvertisement AdvertisementAs of 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, the warning included all of eastern Ontario, including Ottawa, Pembroke, Cornwall, Kingston and Belleville.
It also covered western Quebec, including Gatineau, Val-des-Monts, La Pêche and communities to the north.
The Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority issued a similar statement, saying that water levels and flows throughout the valley remain near seasonal norms.
