Origis Energy has brought three new phases of its Rockhound Solar project online in Ector County, Texas. This expansion adds 500 megawatts of direct current (MWdc) to the local power grid, bringing the facility’s total operating capacity close to 1 gigawatt direct current (GWdc). Origis Energy signed long-term supply agreements with major corporate partners, including Meta, Occidental, dsm-firmenich, and Bekaert, to help meet their long-term power needs. Origis Energy is now designing the next development phase, which will add another gigawatt of solar capacity alongside large-scale battery storage. Alongside the Rockhound development, Origis Energy is building additional solar infrastructure elsewhere in Ector County.
