A large wading bird in the family Ciconiidae (storks). They are not common in Arkansas. They will typically migrate in small numbers to eastern Arkansas in August and September and stay a short while before heading south. Adults are large with with long legs, a heavy curved bill, white overall and black flight feathers, the head is bare and scaly.
