On Wednesday, Babergh District Council met to discuss plans for 18 homes on the land east of Capel Road in Bentley, near Ipswich. The plans were refused in line with officer recommendations following a vote of six councillors objecting to the proposal and two supporting it. Deben Homes were proposing to convert the former fruit farm off Station Road into 12 affordable homes, six full cost homes and an open public space. This comes after an application to turn the site into 24 homes by Mixbrow Construction was also previously refused in December 2023. A second vote then moved to defer to allow the applicant further time to provide viability information, which also fell three votes to five, before the plans were finally rejected.
