- Trailing by seven points late in the 3rd quarter, the Sturgis Scoopers stormed back Friday to upset the top-ranked team in Class 11AA, the Yankton Bucks 27-21. After a 62-yard run by quarterback Jaxon Cano, that set up first and goal for Sturgis on the Watertown 6-yard line. Then a few plays later, Cano found tight end Gage West for a one-yard touchdown to give Sturgis the lead, 14-13. Yankton responded with a two-yard touchdown run by Jace Sedlacek to make it 21-14. Sturgis will travel to Pierre on Oct. 10 to play the Governors.
