One of the key rights conferred by the Fifth Amendment is the right not to be forced to incriminate oneself. The language of the Fifth Amendment asserts the right not to incriminate ourselves only in criminal cases. Nonetheless, Fifth Amendment immunity against self-incrimination extends even to the tawdry.
