SRINAGAR: Hundreds of people joined the last rites of an elderly Kashmiri Pandit in Baba Gund village of Langate in north Kashmir after he died following a brief illness, with local residents describing the gathering as a reflection of the area’s longstanding communal harmony. Mohan Lal, who remained in his native village through decades of unrest in Kashmir, passed away after illness. He was among the few Kashmiri Pandits who continued to live in their ancestral village during the prolonged conflict in the Valley. According to local residents, Mohan Lal was cared for by his Muslim neighbours during his illness. Locals said the participation of Muslim residents in the funeral reflected the spirit of communal harmony and coexistence that has endured in the area despite decades of conflict in Kashmir.
