SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness intermittent rainfall over the next five days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting light to moderate rain across most parts of the Union Territory and warning of flash floods, landslides and thunderstorms in vulnerable areas.
According to the Meteorological Centre Srinagar, light to moderate rainfall is expected across Kashmir from August 2 to August 6, while parts of Jammu division are also likely to receive moderate showers during the period.
On August 2 and 3, heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places, particularly in parts of Kashmir and the Jammu region, before the intensity eases from August 4 onwards.
It has also cautioned that intense showers at a few places could trigger flash floods, landslides, mudslides and shooting stones in vulnerable areas during the next five days.
The warning level for August 2 and 3 remains higher for several districts of the Jammu region, while most districts of Kashmir are under a “be aware” alert.
